Body Image

Body image seems to be a huge issue for girls and women of today. We are constantly reminded by messages on television, in magazines, newspapers, and even by our peers about body image. These messages contribute to how we perceive, think and feel about our bodies. We often have a distorted view of our own body image, which can lead to unhealthy lifestyles and even self-destructive behaviors such as bingeing, fasting, excessive exercising, and crash diets.

If you are overly concerned or feel depressed about your body and how you look; or find yourself practicing some of these unhealthy or self-destructive behaviors, then seeking professional help will be beneficial. There are many professionals including dieticians, psychologists, counselors, and medical doctors who are trained in this area to help and lend support.
